In seasons of fasting, it is very helpful to have a list of encouraging Bible verses about fasting.
I just read a book about fasting and I wanted to post a list of Bible verses about fasting for any of you who may be or will be starting a fast.
These are great verses to meditate on even if you aren’t in a season of fasting.
There is something powerful about remember that HE is our daily bread. Nothing else.
To encourage you to remember to think on God’s Word throughout your day.
You can print this list here.
Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Matthew 6:11 “Give us today our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:33-34 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Job 23:12 “I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.”
Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”

Psalm 69:29-31 “I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me. I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. This will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hoofs.”
Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.”
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Psalm 121:1-4 “I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
Colossians 1:10-12 “And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully…”

Jenilee, My husband is fasting this week, seeking the Lord. He’s going through a time of doubt. You’re blogs are always so uplifting and encouraging so I looked up the word “fasting” and found this blog. It’s reassuring. Thank you. In support to my husband, I’m going to send him a bible verse a day. So far, I decided to use Psalm 42:2, Matthew 5:6, Psalm 34:8, Matthew 4:4 and Hebrew 11:6. Please say a prayer for my husband. Thank you and God bless, in Jesus’ name.
