As a mom of girls, I wanted to find a list of Bible Verses FOR girls. Verses that would have a positive impact on my girls.
Bible verses for girls that would help them find their self worth and confidence in what God has to say about them.
We have been having conversations with the girls lately. Topics are coming up that I needed some godly mommy wisdom to tackle.
Many of these conversations are topics that we must discuss with our daughters often. They are conversations that we will continue to have with them for the entire length of their growing up years.
They are conversations that are never over and must always be revisited and re-tackled for their age-level as our girls grow in understanding.
One thing I always want to have present as I deal with life issues in my daughter’s lives is God’s Word.
What does HE say about these issues and topics? Do we strive to know what HE thinks more than what THE WORLD says?
I want to teach my girls to go to the Bible. I want them to care about what God has to say.
See our top devotional list here.
I want my girls to see themselves through His eyes.
I picked up a new book at the Christian Book Store the other day. It is called 5 Conversations you must have with your daughter by Vicki Courtney.
Since I have 3 girls, this book looked interesting.
The beginning of the book is very much about how girls in today’s society view their bodies.
How does society shape what we think and say about how we look on the outside?
The author dives into the history of mirrors, make-up, magazines and scales to help us understand how the availability of these products have made girls/women obsessed with body image and outward appearance.
Where girls used to strive for virtue and inward beauty, today girls often don’t even know what virtue means and they aren’t always taught about inward beauty.
- virtue – moral excellence; goodness; righteousness
- inner – situated within or farther within, of or pertaining to the mind or spirit
- beauty – the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction, something excellent or extraordinary
What used to be considered vanity, is now encouraged, promoted and pushed by TV, social media, magazines, hallway conversation and even our own comments about our bodies, things we say in front of our girls instead of behind closed doors.
As a mom to girls, how do I combat the media and protect my girls view of beauty and body image?
How do I help them understand virtue, modesty and give them a heart to honor their bodies in a godly, safe way?
How do I accomplish this task while everything in society flows in the other direction?
Vicki titled one of her chapters “Redefining Beauty”. She ends the chapter with what she called “Beauty by the Book”.
I’m going to call them Sink Verses for the Bathroom. Because it is a list I’ve made and hung in my girls bathroom so they can see God’s Word about them in the mirror every single day. There is a link to print this list at the bottom of the post!
Bible Verses for Girls
A perfect reminder of God’s Word as our girls prepare for their day!
Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” God sees you as a masterpiece; and when you look in the mirror, he wants you to “know that full well!”
I Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” God wants us to work on being drop-dead gorgeous on the inside!
Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Beauty fades with age, but inner beauty lasts forever.
I Peter 3:3-4 “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” There is nothing wrong with looking beautiful and wearing nice things, but how much time is spent on the outward appearance compared to what is happening on the inside?
I Timothy 4:8 “Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next.” If you don’t know Jesus, a perfect body will not get you through the gates of heaven!
Psalm 46:5 “God is within her; she will not fail.”
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
These are Bible verses for girls that can be used to give my girls a godly, biblical view of beauty. Beauty in God’s eyes.
I would encourage you to print these and put them in the bathroom. Please share this list with another mom of girls.
They are things that we can read as moms and things that our girls should be reading on a daily basis.
Let God’s Word speak louder than the world in your home today.
You can print this list here.
What Bible verses for girls would you add to the list?
