Firm Foundation
In the sweetness of our backyard, I was reminded of our firm foundation.
My favorite moments are when God shows me a simple spiritual truth through the precious innocence and play of my girls.
The other afternoon, I was watching my girls swing in the backyard. They love to play “Surfing” where they swing from side to side, nearly crashing into the tree. They get excited about doing flips on the rings and playing “Lava” where they can’t touch the ground with their feet.
A nervous Mommy watches while they fearlessly enjoy their backyard.
Life is always turning and flipping and swinging back and forth.
Sometimes, it feels like we are barely hanging on.
Our grip seems to slip and our feet tend to drag as life flips us around one more time… no firm foundation to be found.
When our feet are firmly grounded in the Word of God and we remain steadfast on His path for our lives, we can KNOW that we are being held safely in His care. We know we are on HIS firm foundation.
We can trust His ever present help in times of trouble.
We can stand strong in His strength knowing that NOTHING happens that He isn’t aware of or prepared for.
He has a plan.
He has a purpose.
He is our firm foundation.
Our strong place in the midst of an ever shifting world.
On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
“How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?”
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Christ and for the wonderful pictures of your children at play. Lovely moments like come and stay in our hearts for years and years. Also, isn’t it amazing how some simple routine or innocent moment will enlighten our understanding about spiritual truths?
Thanks again.
This is a wonderful lesson and wonderful photos to carry it forward.
Ok, this is another beautiful post Jenilee! That last picture is precious. I am so glad I have a firm foundation.
Where did you get your swing?
Wow, I used to be able to do that! My childhood swingset was the focal point of my day (we didn’t have much else back then, of course).
Even though my focus is on other things now that I’m older, the main one is God. Thankful for His presence in my life every day.
♥
Yup! He is the faithful One. His hand is secure and steady. A firm foundation for those who put their trust in Him. What hope; what joy! Thank God for His grace.
Great message friend.
Love you! <3
Wonderful thoughts and moments – thanks for sharing your heart 🙂
Hope you are feeling better!!
I used to play for hours on our swing set when I was little. I think back now at how my friends and I would try new daring tricks without worrying about getting hurt. If we fell, we knew we could just get up and try again. When do we lose that and start worrying?! Thanks for linking up today!
my honey and his worship band just re-wrote “how firm a foundation” to be a teensy bit more modern and have recorded it on their new cd that will hit the market soon. all that to say, i ADORE the song. what hope, assurance, peace, and rest there is in our SURE foundation! beautiful words, jenilee and beautiful pictures to go along with it.
I love that hymn. I can hear it in my head right now.
I love it how the Lord uses our children to speak to us and remind us of His truth. Life is such a journey — up and down — but by clinging to Him there is hope.
Beautiful pictures to go along with a beautiful post. 🙂
Beautiful post and wonderful pics, especially the last one.
Very thought provoking for me. I’ve been struggling with a big obstacle at work for the past 4 months (I obviously can’t blog about it), but all through it, I kept hearing God say, “Trust me and be patient.” Now within the last two days, it seems like it might finally be removed. It’s so important to trust that He has us in his hands. I have to remind myself that all the time!
I loved playing on my swing-set when I was a girl. Those carefree times are in my memory forever!
Your girls can go out there and play without a care in the world because they feel so secure…and they know that mommy and daddy have everything under control!
I think we as Christians should feel that secure in Christ. And that carefree. He is in control and there is no need for us to fret and worry!
I loved this post Jenilee!
