Homeschool Workbox System

Learning how to homeschool using a homeschool workbox system has been extremely helpful for our day.

I highly recommend this post, ideas and free printables from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

I had been looking for a way to help the girls be more responsible for what they need to do each day. I also wanted a way that I could organize and prepare over the weekend for the upcoming school week.

After researching, printing and preparing, we rearranged our schoolroom to incorporate our new workbox carts. You can purchase here.

Each subject has a drawer. The numbers are slightly out of order because I plan to mix up the order once and a while for them anyway.

Each week, I will give the girls a schedule of what they need to get done each day. I will update their boxes with what they need for that subject during the week. Then, they will be responsible to get it all done!

I also added breaks (15 minute and 25 minute) and a snack time.

Break ideas could be a puzzle, felt boards, magnet dolls, computer game, outside play… anything that gets them moving or a change of scenery for a bit!

So far, so good. Our whole family is happy with this new system.

Have you ever used a workbox system? In your learning how to homeschool, do you think this will help you get organized?

Where did you get the carts and are they sturdy? The Amazon, Wal-Mart and JoAnn reviews are are mixed..a little heavy on the negative side for the price. I’m concerned about purchasing something that won’t stand up to the daily use by little boys! Hmmm…

this is exactly what I was wondering. The reviews seemed mixed, but I’m considering doing this for our workboxes

They work amazingly well. My girls are more independent in their learning and they know what is expected of them each day.

They all like knowing what they have to do and choosing what order they complete each subject. I also love that it keeps track of all their school stuff. Everything has a place and the kids can very easily keep order for themselves!

I love this (and am bookmarking your blog!) This is my first year homeschooling. I also use MFW with a 3rd grader and a Kindergartner. I bought some boxes tonight and we are going to try the workbox system.

I’m such a girl for the living room. I really like to stay in my nest and not move. I travel in my mind, and that that’s a rigorous state of journeying for me. My body isn’t that interested in moving from place to place. – Bell Hooks Flights to Douala

Everyday Moments

Here we are… mid-way through May! This year is flying by and I feel like we really have to pay attention or the days are gone. With everything going on… #getjoy. Praise. Give thanks. Trust. Hope. #ourgoodwinjourney #goodwintravels #africaisbeautiful
He’s home from another big weekend with a #hphcteam #kidmin training and a visit to @peoplescapetown! This week, we get to zoom in to @ohioministrynetwork conference along with some local meetings. Then, @reverendgoody takes off again for a week of teaching at the Bible school. With our heaters running and #goodwinhomeschool going strong. Happy Monday! #buggingyouteam #getjoy #ourgoodwinjourney
Sometimes, getting MKs to talk about their experiences takes a little extra thought, attention, care and loving questions. They are deep wells of experiences, griefs, joys and knowledge. I love getting to pull small #behindtheprayercard stories out of these amazing girls and hear their sweet perspectives of #overseaslife. Talk to an MK. Listen… really listen. Let the stories pour out. #goodwingirls #mklife #thirdculturekids #ourgoodwinjourney
Coordinating stuff on two continents. Sometimes… whew! A new driver, a closing on our house {thank you Lord!}, college/dual enrollment, work, all the insurances, planning work travels… with help from family, figuring out crazy time differences, and lots of emails and WhatsApps.
