Learning to Say It Is Well
I woke up today thinking about the phrase, “It is well, with my soul.”
Think about that with me.
The deepest part of myself, every fiber of my being cries to God, “It is well!”
By saying, “It is well, with my soul.” we are telling God that we trust Him and we believe in His promises.
When we put our trust in Him, knowing that He sees the big picture, we are telling God that He is enough.
Our soul is well because He is alive and active.
No matter our struggle, we can know that God is enough, His promises are true and we can trust His hand at work in our lives in the midst of our pain.
We can all say, “It is well, with my soul.”
Every day. In faith. No matter what comes our way.
We know He loves us. We know He works all things for the good of those who love Him. We know He has our best in mind. We know He has a greater plan that we could ever imagine.
We know He is God.
And, because He is God, we can say with all assurance, “It is well, with my soul.”
Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire,
uttered or unexpressed;
The motion of a hidden fire
That trembles in the breast.
Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
The falling of a tear;
The upward glancing of an eye,
When none but God is near.
