Scriptures for Husbands From Proverbs 31

In studying Proverbs 31, we see some interesting scriptures for husbands blended in with the verses about wives.

I’ve written previously about the Proverbs 31 woman.

Now, let’s focus on those scriptures for husbands and learn about the Proverbs 31 husband.

Scriptures for Husbands from Proverbs 31 - A Proverbs 31 Husband?

What do we know about this husband? The husband of the Proverbs 31 woman?

Two scriptures for husbands

“Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.” Proverbs 31:23

“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:10-12

What do these scriptures for husbands tell us about the Proverbs 31 husband?

We learn that he has full confidence in his wife. He knows her value. He sees her worth. He trusts her.

He is a man who is respected by his peers. He is respected in his workplace.

Now, here… where we could all list a few of our own short comings or maybe list a few of the failures of our husbands… don’t.

stop for just a second and think about what we can learn from this husband and his wife.

They seem to work well together.

This husband and wife confidently respect each other.

They speak well of each other.

They are team players.

They see worth in each other.

Read over verses 10-31 again.

What can you learn from the scriptures for husbands in Proverbs 31?

What things can you learn that would help you and your husband become the team that God created you to be?

Are you doing things that are valuable? worth giving confidence? trustworthy? Are you providing for your home? For your children? For your husband? For your wife?

Can you say that you bring good, not harm, to each other all the days of your life?

Let’s all use wisdom with our time, with our actions, with our energy and purpose to bring good to our spouse today.

What do you think about the Proverbs 31 Husband?

Have you ever considered the scriptures for husbands in Proverbs 31?

I would like to thank you for this post. As a man I think this goes both ways. A man should do everthing he can to help make his wife the best women she can be. It does start with choosing the right wife. My first wife was not a good woman. She always wanted to go out and party and was all about herself. Too many people these days are selfish and self serving that they neglect the needs of their family. It should be your family first and with that everyone is successful and respectable.

We have to remember that the passage was written about a king (young) being counseled by his mother. She was teaching him about life and finding a wife. This whole chapter is more to men than women, although it is a great picture for us ladies, too.
I have five boys and I read them the book of Proverbs daily through the month (30-31 days) so every time the month has 31 days we pay special attention to this special chapter. Most of proverbs is from the perspective of a father teaching, but this one is special with a mother’s council.
    Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for leaving your 2 cents! I love it! I guess I was making the point of are we helping our husbands be that husband who is respected in the city? It was interesting to think about the man behind the verses. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Huh, I never thought of Proverbs 31 like that, speaking anything into the character of the man. Definitely something for me to think about and turn over today. Thanks for sharing!
