You know that God is in control and wanting to speak to you when something reaches up to touch your heart.
When a phrase or word from the Bible hits you right at the moment you need it.
I absolutely LOVE when scripture does that.
When the living, breathing Word of God says, “hello! I’m talking to you!”
It reminds me that God is in control of the situation and that He sees me in the mess.
I was dreadfully overwhelmed this week with thoughts of everything we must do before we move overseas.
Driver’s licenses will expire before we go… where do we live and which state do we reside in for this purpose?
Our stuff has to be stored. How does that work?
Lists of things to bring, who has what, who needs what…
The paperwork for Visas and language school. Paperwork that must be translated into French before we go.
Our taxes are a whole new ballgame this year. How is that all going to turn out?
The girls will need toys and clothes and… where does all that come from?
On and on and on the list goes.
To dos, remember this, don’t forget that.
My week has been full of overwhelming questions, circumstances and details.
Needing to know that God is in control of all of it.
So many things of which I have no good answer for nor do I have any way of getting a good answer for them any time soon.
Much of life is learn as we go, figure out what’s best and travel by the seats of our pants.
Overwhelmed doesn’t even really cover it.
I know you’ve been there.
Those moments when chocolate can’t even quite make it better. Or ice cream.
That is some serious troubles, I tell you.
So, while Jeremy was off picking up the girls from school and I had some quiet time to think, I decided it was a great time to put on pandora worship and get out my devotions.
I needed God to speak into the situations we are facing and get a better perspective on the logistics of this missions journey.
I read. And read some more. And one verse jumped off the page.
In the New Century Version, Psalm 116:7 says, “I said to myself, “Relax, because the Lord takes care of you.”
Should I write that one more time?
“I said to myself, “Relax, because the Lord takes care of you.”
Oh, that is a kiss on my cheek, a blessing on my head, a relief to my soul.
God has it taken care of already.
God is in control
I can let go.
He is in control.
I can let Him work while I relax.
He is the only one who can work in these big decisions anyway!
We are going to struggle with these things because we don’t have all the answers… He does!
We are going to have a hard time dealing with the pressure because we are human… He is God!
We can relax. Let go. Let God.
Did you need to read that today?
Does that scripture jump out at you like it did for me?
Well, if so… take heed.
God’s taking care of you. God is in control of it all.
