Oh How He Loves Us - Are we seeking Him in return?

Oh, How He Loves Us

The moments when you realize oh how He loves us.

He really does. He loves us desperately and completely.

But what is our response?

Do we seek Him in return because of our great love for Him?

These things are easy to forget when life gets busy.

Because of a girls ministries meeting for church at a friend’s house, I was going to be out late and so Jeremy took the girls through their nightly routine and put them to bed.

I got home after ten, cleaned up the kitchen and then headed off to bed.

In the midst of my sleep, I felt a little kiss on my cheek.

I glanced over at the clock and it said 5:00am. Way too early for the girls to be up but yet here stood Abby by my bed.

She had kissed me and was just standing there.

Oh How He Loves Us - Are we seeking Him in return?

Softly, I said, “Honey, do you need something?”

“No.” she answered.

“Do you have to go potty?” I asked because that is usually the reason she is up in the night.

“No.”

She leaned over and kissed my cheek again and then left the room to go back to bed.

I must have still been slightly asleep because I didn’t get up to check on her or even remember that it had happened until later that morning.

When I did remember, I thought, “She got up out of bed just to see me. Just to make sure that Mommy was home. Just to give me a kiss. And then she went back to sleep. Amazing.”

That feeling of Mommy-love swept over me at the memory of her kissing my cheek.

How loved I felt because she chose to come and find me, kiss me and check on me even though she didn’t need anything but the knowledge of knowing Mommy was home.

That was it. Just a simple moment of love.

I thought about the event later in the day and I was gently nudged by the Holy Spirit.

Oh, how He loves us.

My heart cried, “When was the last time you went to God just to be near Him? Just to feel His presence? When did you last approach Him not because you needed something but just because He is your Heavenly Father?”

It is so easy to seek Him out when we need something.

Oh How He Loves Us - Are we seeking Him in return?

Just like it is so easy for our kids to only need us when they need something from us.

But God, just like me, wants to be sought out by His children because we love Him and we want to be in His presence.

He wants us to long for Him just for the pure joy of knowing Him.

God tells us in Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”

He loves us and is drawing us to Him.

Do you sense Him drawing you to spend time with Him?

Drawing you to have a simple moment of love with Him?

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.” declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:13-14

Seek out His presence today.

Oh, how He loves us.
