Seeing Through the Fog of Life
Seeing our day from God’s perspective is a challenge for us all.
We can get so bogged down with the weight of the world and forget that from God’s perspective, everything looks different.
Have you ever looked out across a fog covered lake in the early morning?
You are hoping to see glittering water but all you really see is a white wall?
The beautiful view is covered with a thick, dense, greyish-white coat.
You know the water is there, but you can’t see it.
You know that the scenery, the passing waves are there, but you can’t see them.
There is a foggy wall shielding what you want to see.
The wall is masking what is really there.
Because the truth is this:
The lake is still there under the foggy coat.
Why am I sharing about fog today?
Because, often times, the troubles of life distort our view. The circumstances of life cloud our thinking, our feelings and our perception of who God is in our lives.
We can be fooled into looking at the foggy covering instead of trusting that God is working in our circumstances.
We forget that from God’s perspective, the whole situation look differently from what we see.
As I get older, learn more, live more, I realize that the fog of life can creep in very quickly.
Fog can overwhelm. Fog can feel oppressive and suffocating. Before you know it, fog is all you see.
We must remember that God is still there with us in the midst of the fog. He is still God even when we can’t see what He is doing. He is still faithful, trustworthy and good even when life seems cloudy.
From God’s Perspective
God’s Word is truth no matter what our life circumstances tell us. We can hold fast to this truth no matter what comes our way.
Psalm 66:8-12 says, “Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of His praise be heard; He has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping. For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.”
God’s plan for our life is always good and full of hope. He has a place of abundance for us. No matter what we face, when we cling to Him, we can know that He is with us. We can trust that the truth is still true. We can trust His perspective.
In this world, the fog will come.
It will always try to blur our view of the truth and tempt us to forget God’s promises.
But in those times, we must allow truth to overcome the fog.
Proverbs 24:3-4 says, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established, through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
Later, in verse 16, it says, “Know that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”
Remember, when the fog comes, God is with you. His hope is for you. You can face the fog through the wisdom of God’s promises. You can battle the fog in your life with trust, knowing God is always there.
Are you in a foggy season? What verses encourage you through the fog of life?
How can you challenge yourself to see from God’s perspective?
Thank you so much for this post!
I so needed to read this message.
It is amazing to see that, on foggy days like this one, God sends messages of encouragement our way (like this post)…
What a beautiful reminder that He is with us no matter what. Love, love this post!
P.S. I was listening to the Selah song you posted as I was reading this post. I haven’t heard a lot of Selah’s music before, but that was a great one. Thanks for sharing!
So true and such a good thing to be reminded of, to always remember that God is with us, even when the fog clouds our perception. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Jenilee!!
Very good!
His truth supersedes all natural fact! A wonderful knowledge I hold dear to!
“For we walk by FAITH and not by SIGHT….for what is seen in temporal, but what is not seen is eternal.”
Good stuff today!
Beautifully written, thank you for inspring me today. I love your blog!
