What does it mean to humble yourself under his mighty hand?
Life gets busy and crazy and sometimes making sure to humble yourself before God is not always at the top of our to do list.
Remembering spend time with Jesus each day can get put on the back burner of life.
I am sitting here with a pile of bills, mail and other things to go through.
Groceries need purchased, running club after school, laundry waiting to be washed.
But time to sit under God’s Hand?
I’ve been thinking about this because these two short verses jumped out at me recently.
I Peter 5:6-7 says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
What a beautiful picture.
Humble yourself before God.
Tell Him that He is in control.
Give Him permission to work His way.
Remind yourself that He knows what is best eternally for you.
Stay in the “humble yourself” process.
The process of living under God’s mighty hand and casting our anxiety on Him is something that must be purposeful, real and ongoing in our lives.
Living there is the best place to be. It’s residing in his plan, his way, his life for you. Not trying to get out from under His hand but welcoming His mighty presence in every area of your life.
Because He will lift you up at the right time. He’ll complete His work in you.
He will fulfill His promises to you.
He will remain faithful to what He has in store for your life and God’s Word tells us time after time that He has a plan and it is good.
Cast aside all anxiety and give it all to the One who can do something about it, trusting that He is going to work for your benefit.
To humble yourself to His way, His plan, His purpose.
The bottom line is that He cares for us.
We can humble ourselves, live under His mighty hand, and cast our anxiety on Him.
There is rest and peace in His care.
