Have you ever wondered about the presence of God?
Do you wonder where you can you go that God couldn’t see you? Is it possible to not be seen by Him?
I was standing by my sink, doing dishes and praying.
Wondering if God sees me in the midst. Wondering about the presence of God.
I know He does. I can tell myself He does.
Yet, often the circumstances of life cloud out the reality of His presence in those times and it becomes difficult to sense His presence at work.
Have you been there?
I am there sometimes.
Standing at my sink, needing Him to speak into my situation, I was there.
Praying for God to give us wisdom and direction through the cloudiness of this moment in our lives.
Then, as a breath of fresh air, the Holy Spirit reminded me, “Where can you go from my Spirit? Where can you flee from my presence?”
It was a heavenly reminder. I can’t go anywhere OUT of His presence. He is always with me.
The presence of God is all around me.
Psalm 139:7-12 says, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”
Although I’m not purposely hiding from Him, I still needed to remember that I can’t get away from His presence. He can still see me in the dark because dark is as light to Him!
Even in the low, unsure, unsafe, confusing, cloudy, dark times of life, He is there. Even there.
Psalm 139:10 says, “Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
As a child of God, I can never move beyond His care, guidance and supporting strength. He is with me in all situations, now and in the future. I can rest sure that the presence of God is there.
Do you ever wonder about the presence of God in your life? What verses speak to you in those moments?
That was a great post, Jenilee. I feel like right now, I keep asking God where He is. I keep telling him I know He’s there, but I don’t feel Him. It’s a test of faith, for sure.
